I think this site was mostly about finding your ''love''. I went on my cousin's account, I saw some gross stuff. Back when I was 9, I'll be honest, I had no idea what was going on.. Eventually I would lose interest and join again a year later. When I was 13, I joined again and I've been using it every day since. So of course there is some sexual themes and swearing is not censored. IMVU allows anyone to say anything in chat. This means that you may enter a chat room to find two or more people involved in cybersex. This can be reported, and you can leave.. I would say that the website should not be used by anyone under 13, is sketchy for those who are 13, and by the age of 14 it should be perfectly fine to use.

Honestly, I've been using imvu for over a year straight, and I have never actually come into contact with a cybersex situation. The teens are kept at a decent distance from adults on the website, with different chat rooms and search options. It's hard for a teenager to come into contact with someone 18 or older unless they were friends with the person before they turned Because of this, teenagers are less likely to see any cybering that may occur between adults, and it doesn't happen much among teens.

The only IMVU users that I have seen that are even interested in cybering are "noobs", or new users, and if one of them attempts to do anything, you can boot them from the room, and block them. IMVU is mostly used for the thing I use it for, friendship, and I've made friends from multiple countries and I'm glad to have them even if I've never actually met them. When I went onto this website, I figured it would just be a fun game where I can interact with others. It was a virtual SEX world where people hook up. I thought that I can stay safe if I get away from people. I did lie about my age, but after a while, I realized that you must be 13 to log on. Still, people were flirting with me and kissing with me and EVEN touching me in bad ways. It also has a social network, which is nice for kids to talk to each other.

Its a good and fun website, but for kids under 14, stick to The Sims 3 or Free Realms or Wizard , something like that.
