The biomechanics of volleyball refers to the application of this field specifically to the movements in the sport. The movements of Volleyball are a complex combination of strength, power, agility, and finesse. It is the combination of forces produced by different parts of the human body.
Principle 1. Use as many body parts that relate to the movement as possible. Force summation is used when doing a free throw. The legs bend and extend then the whole arm extends with a flick of the wrist to transfer the forces into the ball to give it the power and speed needed to make the distance. Summation of force is defined as 'to obtain maximum force with any movement where many muscles are used' P.
Fordham, Force summation requires all body parts to move in sequence. In order for maximum force to be applied in a volleyball spike, the player needs a stable base from which to start the movement. What is the study of biomechanics? Biomechanics is the study of the structure, function and motion of the mechanical aspects of biological systems, at any level from whole organisms to organs, cells and cell organelles, using the methods of mechanics. What is force summation in golf? Summation of force: The law indicates that the greater the force applied to an object the greater its acceleration Blazevich, What are the principles of biomechanics?
The principle of linked segments. The principle of impulse-causing momentum. The principle of the stretch-shorten cycle. The principle of summing joint forces. To obtain a maximum force, summation also needs sequential stabilization of body parts, with some body parts having to be fixed at stable points while other parts produce the effective forces.
